This past Thursday Sean and I took Liliana to see a GI doctor. To make a long story short, he gave us prescriptions for some tests and a drug called Omeprazole (brand name Prilosec). I scheduled the tests, which consist of a barium swallow with video, an abdominal ultrasound, and an x-ray, for tomorrow and Wednesday. The Omeprazole needs to be approved by insurance before we can get it filled, so the doctor has changed Liliana’s dosage of Zantac to be 0.8ml every 8 hours pending the insurance company’s decision.
Even with the change in dosage of the Zantac, Liliana has been throwing up and refusing to eat from the bottle. We hope to get her onto the Omeprazole and that she’ll be able to drink again. It’s a good thing she has a feeding tube, else I don’t know how we’d get her to grow.
And she is growing. She was 8 pounds and 14 ounces last Thursday and we’re always commenting on how much heavier she’s feeling. Developmentally, she’s now smiling when you talk to her. Instead of her usual performance of uncontrolled headbobbing during tummy time, today Liliana was able to hold her head up and look around. I wonder what else she’s going to learn this month?
