About Liliana

Liliana with apparent CDH at 15 week ultrasound

Liliana was diagnosed with congenital diaphragmatic hernia (CDH) when I was pregnant with her at 15 weeks. A hole in the left side of her diaphragm allowed her stomach, spleen, and some of her intestines to move up into her chest, which left little room for her lungs to grow.

She was born at 36 weeks gestation and went into surgery 2 days later to have the CDH repaired. The surgery was a success and Liliana was able to breathe on her own after a week on the ventilator. She came home after 23 days in the hospital.

She is now dealing with reflux (GER) and weight gain issues, but we're working everyday to improve her health and make her happy.
